The Big Picture is set in an old-fashioned village where parents pass down their jobs to their children, and they to their children. Our protagonist, Daniel, is a teenager who struggles to break out of this tradition, and to pursue his own dream of becoming a world class photographer.
Every summer, Daniel and his friends must participate in the summer camp program at Camp 12 Trees, learning their family craft. After the orientation session, Daniel confesses to his friends about his interest in photography. But facing opposition by his friends and camp counsellors, Daniel runs away from Camp 12 Trees. His best friend, Justin, tags along with Daniel.
After a brief but intense discussion, the rest of the campers decide to search for Daniel and Justin. Though they are successful in finding Daniel and Justin, they all find themselves lost in the forest surrounding Camp 12 Trees. While making their way back to Camp 12 Trees, the campers all decide to follow their dreams rather than the tradition.
Soon, the parents and the camp counsellors mount a search for the lost campers. In the end, the villagers, both young and old, find themselves at a crossroads of tradition vs. change. Can the townspeople truly come to a place where they can accept this new generations plea for change? Or will they end up continuing to follow the age old tradition?

오페라캘리포니아 소년소녀합창단은 창작 뮤지컬 "더 빅 픽쳐"를 2018년 7월 7일 미국 공연과, 7월 19일 부터 30일 까지 한국 순회 공연을 갖게 됩니다.
"더 빅 픽쳐는" 한 숲속에 있는 마을의 한 소년의 이야기 입니다. 매년 Camp를 통해서 마을 아이들은 가족에 관한 새로운것을 배우게 됩니다. 빵굽는 제과업을 하고있는 가족에 아들 다니엘은 캠프에서 고민을 하던 중, 자기의 꿈을 쫓아가기 위하여, 캠프기간중 도망가게 됩니다. 그러나, 다니엘은 친구 저스틴 과 숲속에서 길을 잃게 됩니다.
친구들은 그들을 찾아 나서게되었고, 각자의 고민과 어려움속에서 서로의 형편과 사정을 이해하게 됩니다. 상대방의 처한 상황과 형편을 받아들이게 되었을 때 비로서 자신의 문제도 찾게 됩니다. 따라서, 부모님들과의 어려운 관계, 즉 세대관의 갈등과 어려움속에서 오랜전통을 지켜야만 하는지, 아니면 각자의 꿈을 쫓아가야 하는지, 친구들과 함께 대화를 나누 는 중, “THE BIG PICTURE” (큰 그림) 을 깨닳게 됩니다.
오랜 전통보다, 서로를 이해하고 사랑하는 삶을 갖게 되었을때 비로서 각자가 원하는 꿈과 비젼을 이룰 수 있다는 놀라운 삶의 큰 그림을 그릴 수 있기 때문 입니다.
